One of the best features of web3 is the transparency. All in the open. No hiding.

Or is it? Turns out it's easy to hide in plain sight, as anyone who's bought drugs with BTC knows.
And that's ok if ur a private person.
For influencers, we should demand better.
👇
Having 100k+ followers is a huge amount of power. Many of those NFT influencers are also anon. Some take no responsibility for what they do. They lie, they rug, they pump and dump, they do it all with no consequences.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
I can't stop people from following known fraudsters' tips. I only have power over myself. What I can do, as I slowly build up my own influence, is set a standard of transparency which I believe should be the gold standard in this space.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
The more influential someone is, I believe the more we should ask for this transparency of them.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
It is not ok that someone with 3m followers can just dump on their own followers and walk away with no consequences.
It's even worse that they can do it in secret.
So, my call for the space is for people who have any aspirations towards being influencers to take the time (in some cases it may even involve hiring someone to help them with the grunt work) to actually list out their trading history and their portfolio.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
I also call on influencers to do this for all their addresses and clearly commit not to using secret addresses to dump on their followers.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
Of course, fraudsters are not going to follow this advice. But my hope is that some honest people, do, and that that number grows over time.
Back when I ran @GrantTree, I had a policy of not participating in private Slack channels. This came from a long experience of seeing what happens when people start talking privately, away from the rest of the company.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
Every single time that happened, in my experience, people would eventually badmouth someone behind their back. Because the person wasn't there, it was easier to make a comment about them that was not well thought through, and tarnish their reputation a little.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
So I refused to participate in any private channels. All my Slack discussions were out in the open.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
It worked out very well. It meant every (written) conversation with me had to live up to a higher standard of honesty and thoughtfulness. I liked that.
So I've gone ahead and done this for my own portfolio, here: https://t.co/aGCjv0mAZl

On that page you will find my entire trading history, annotated, and all my current portfolio with thoughts about the projects I hold.
Apart from being a public statement, this also helps me to keep myself accountable to my own commitment not to make shady dealings. I feel pretty committed to that anyway, but we're all human, and knowing I'll have to explain all my trades will hopefully make me think twice.

In the future, whenever referencing a project as an example, instead of just writing (Disclaimer: I own 3 of these), I will also link to this page so my exact portfolio is transparent to any of my readers. It's transparency++. And it's verifiable - you can check my transactions.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
This is a public commitment I make to my followers. I will only use addresses listed at https://t.co/aGCjv0mAZl .
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
I will keep that page up to date weekly.
I will include my thinking, as honestly as I can, about each trade/project.
When I mention a project I hold, you will be able to see exactly what my entry point was, what my planned exit point is, how much I'm holding, what my thoughts on the project are.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
This will likely be archived by webarchive so you can look back if I change it.
I'm not here to hide, I'm here to share information, education, insight, and be on this journey with everyone here who has a heart and a sense of ethics.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
WAGMI - in the sunlight, not in the shadows, hiding behind masks.
My goal in trading NFTs is not to "get an edge" over people "less smart than me" and dump worthless NFTs on them. I want to invest in viable projects early and hold them until they realise their value, and then sell to ppl who value the benefits of that project.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
Given this goal, and given that I don't aspire to trade on people's stupidity, but on people's intelligence and their recognition of valuable projects, it is entirely consistent to share all this information with others transparently.
— Daniel Tenner (swombat.eth) (@swombat) January 6, 2022
I also hope that reviewing my journey through NFTs, and seeing how many dumb decisions I've made, might both help others learn, and help them feel better about their own stupid mistakes. We're all learning.
